Briana Jewett was awarded the title of Miss Atlanta on August, 20th at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center in Roswell, Georgia. She was selected among 18 stunning contestants, to represent Atlanta in the Miss Georgia Pageant to be held in June. In addition to the title of Miss Atlanta, Briana also won the swimsuit and evening gown awards.
The daughter of Stephany Glassing and Frank Jewett, Briana resides in Marietta and currently attends The University of Georgia where she is pursuing degrees in Advertising and Communication Sciences. Upon graduation, Briana hopes to secure a position with a prestigious advertising agency and work towards her goal of becoming an art director.
Throughout her years at UGA, Briana has remained active as the founding president of the UGA chapter of PEACE OUTside Campus. PEACE OUTside Campus is a foundation dedicated to promoting peaceful and safe living environments in off-campus college communities nationwide. Her goal is to empower students and their families to be more proactive in safeguarding themselves against those who perpetuate crime and violence. Rather than creating a culture of fear, she strives to reinforce a sense of empowerment, strength, and security.
As Miss Atlanta, Briana plans to implement PEACE OUTside Campus’s “Teens-n-Transition” or TNT program throughout the state. TNT targets high school seniors who are about to experience one of life’s most jarring transitions: College. This program will help guide these young adults to be more aware of their surroundings and avoid developing a sense of invincibility. Through these efforts, she will inspire others to advocate against crime and violence while also expanding the visibility and positive influence of the Miss America Organization.
In addition to her dedication to PEACE OUTside Campus, Briana is also an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority, the Public Relation Student Society of America, and Dance Marathon, benefiting The Children’s Miracle Network. She also serves as the Director of the UGA Diamond Darlings, which are a team of fun, outgoing, and active young women dedicated to promoting interest in UGA baseball.
Briana’s interest in the Miss America Organization was sparked her senior year of high school after learning of the thousands of dollars in scholarships awarded to young women each year. She has since held the titles of Miss Cherokee County 2008, Miss University of Georgia 2009, Miss Rome 2010, and Miss Cobb County 2011. She placed first runner-up to Miss Georgia in 2009 and has won both the overall eveningwear and swimsuit awards at the state level.
