Kristen Springer is the 21 year old daughter of Mark and Melissa Springer. She grew up in Snellville, Georgia with her younger sister Anna. Kristen is currently a Junior at the University of Texas at Austin where she is pursuing a degree in Communications and Advertising. During the year Kristen also dances professionally for Ballet Pensacola in Florida as a soloist. When Kristen is not dancing or going to school she resides in Snellville Georgia.
Kristen has been dancing since the age of three and has used her talent to earn several scholarships, which have completely paid her way through college to date. In 2005 she was Miss Atlanta’s Outstanding Teen, she went on to win the title of Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen 2005, where she won both her talent and evening gown preliminary nights. In 2010 Kristen was crowned Miss Gwinnett and at Miss Georgia, placed Top Ten, won preliminary talent and swimsuit, the Overall Talent Award, the Bob Ritchie Photogenic Award, and the Floreida Harrell Scholarship for Performing Arts Award. On August 22, 2010, Kristen was crowned Miss Atlanta and will compete at the Miss Georgia pageant in June.
While dancing full time, Kristen finished High school online and began taking college online courses, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She started her dance training at the North East Atlanta Ballet and left home at the age of 15 to dance with the Houston Ballet. Since then she has danced with the Alabama Ballet, the School of American Ballet in New York City, and most recently Ballet Pensacola.
Kristen has been very involved with the program “Discover Dance” for the past two years. “Discover Dance” is a fully portable outreach program that is interactive, educational, and entertaining. It includes a completely self-contained theater that can be set up in any large space and encourages the participation in the performing arts. Kristen to date has visited and preformed for over 40 schools, reaching over 30,000 students. She plans on using her Miss Atlanta title to bring the “Discover Dance” program to Atlanta area school systems this year. |
