Meet Miss Atlanta
 

Miss Atlanta 2009 - Rachel Evans

Rachel is the 23 year old daughter of Jesse and Beth Evans of Marietta, GA. She has two sisters; Jessica and Leah. Currently she is a graduate student earning a Master's degree in Painting at the Savannah College of Art & Design in Atlanta, and is employed as the manager of The Englishman Gallery in Buckhead.

While attending Harrison High School in Marietta, GA. she was crowned Miss Legacy 2001. Rachel graduated Magna Cum Laude from Auburn University, receiving a B.A. in Fine Art with a minor in psychology. In 2006, she was crowned Miss Auburn University, 2007 she was crowned Miss Auburn Opelika, and was a preliminary swimsuit winner at the 2007 Miss Alabama pageant.
Rachel was crowned Miss Southern Heartland 2008 and was 4th runner up at the Miss Georgia 2008 pageant. Rachel was crowned Miss Atlanta 2009 on August 23,2008 and will represent the city of Atlanta at the 2009 Miss Georgia Pageant.

Some of Rachel's accomplishments include being the President of the Association of Visual Artists at Auburn University, receiving the Atlanta Journal Constitution Cup "Best All Around Senior" awarded at her high school graduation. She has served as a vocalist at numerous sporting events, and was featured on ESPN and The Today Show. In addition, she has been a member of numerous honors societies including the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Mortar Board top 50 Seniors honorary.

Rachel has a true passion for her platform, "Art Cares" which focuses on the importance of art in the healing and communication process for ill children and young people with disabilities. She has experience volunteering with The Children's Miracle Network sponsored hospitals as an art teacher and holiday craft volunteer. She has logged over 100 hours and personally raised over $1,000 for this cause in the past year. Her desire is to triple the number of hours volunteered and funding for this year!
