On
behalf of the Miss Atlanta Board of Directors we are pleased to announce
information regarding our upcoming pageant. The winner of Miss Atlanta
will represent our city at the Miss Georgia Pageant in June of 2010.
The winner of the Miss Georgia Pageant will represent our state at
the Miss America pageant.
ELIGIBILITY FOR COMPETITION:
One must be:
-
a female between the ages of 17-24
-
a high school graduate
before July 30, 2010
-
no older than 24
years of age before December 31, 2010
-
a permanent resident
for at least 6 months prior to the date of the pageant and either live,
work, fulltime or be a full time student in:
Barrow, Carroll, Cherokee, Clarke, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Habersham, Hall, Henry, Jackson, Lumpkin, Oconee, Paulding, Polk, Rockdale, Walton, White Counties.
Deadline date
to enter the pageant is Saturday August 1, 2009.

ORIENTATION
There will be no formal orientation meeting with contestants this year. All information to be submitted for the pagent needs to be sent to:

REHEARSAL
The mandatory rehearsal for the pageant will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until it is completed at the Roswell Cultural
Arts Center.

You must use the required forms listed below. If the contestant is under
the age of 18 the forms will need a parents signature. These forms will
need to be notarized.

CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK
In addition to your own personal platform, there is a National Platform for Miss America: The Children's Miracle Network.
All contestant's competing in a local preliminary are REQUIRED to complete the Service Requirement of raising $100 for the CMN. This is a tax deductible donation. 40% goes to the Children's Miracle Network, 30% to the Miss America Scholarship Fund and 30% to the Miss Atlanta Scholarship Fund. Contestants are not required to handle any money. All fundraising may be done via the internet and mail. Please visit the official website at: www.missamerica4kids.org . Here you can register and get answers to frequently answered questions. This is a NEW requirement from Miss America this year. YOUR DONATION OF $100 MUST BE PAID BEFORE FRIDAY AUGUST 14, 2009 and will be verified by the local Executive Director.
PHOTOGRAPH
We request a clear headshot photograph. It is advisable to be at least a 4x6
or 5x7 for clearer content when printed in the program book. Headshot photo's can be emailed (scan at 150 dpi) to missatlanta2006@aol.com or brought to orientation. We request a color photo.

AD SALES
Although there is NO official entry fee we encourage you to have a sponsor.
The cost of a full page ad is $100, half page ad is $75 and quarter page ad
is $50 and business card size is $25. They will need to be camera ready and
can be emailed to missatlanta2006@aol.com
TALENT REQUEST
In case of two requests for the same music, the contestant whose form is received
first will be allowed to use the music. MUSIC CD (no tapes;music cannot exceed
90 seconds in time).
JUDGING CRITERIA
The scoring is as follows:
Private Interview 25%, Talent 35%, Swimsuit 15%, OnStage Question 5%,
Eveningwear 20%
INTERVIEW
Each Contestant completes a private 10 minute interview with the judge's. Each Contestant will give a 30 second closing.
TALENT
TIME LENGTH CANNOT EXCEED 90 SECONDS. CD's only...NO TAPES.
Talent will be timed on Friday night at rehearsal. Each cd should have the
contestant's name on the CD. A master CD will be developed which contains
each talent selection as well as production music. The CD will not be returned
until
the night after the pageant. You should retain another CD to use for practice.
ON STAGE QUESTION
Contestants will be judged on their response to one question related to her platform.
SWIMSUIT
Swimsuits will be approved prior to competition. This can be done at the
Friday night rehearsal. Swimsuit must be in good taste, one or two piece
is acceptable-NO
THONGS! Contestants may wear shoes or go barefoot.
EVENING WEAR
Contestants may wear an evening wear outfit or her choice. Eveningwear may
be pants or an evening gown. |
